Welcome to Accio Gundogs where we work, train and play with our dogs here in Scotland. Our gundogs compete and work. We occasionally breed from our fully health tested sire and dam, when we want a puppy or two for ourselves. We are planning no litters in 2022, but our waiting list is open. Accio gundogs pickup during the shooting season in Scotland. Our Labradors are retrievers and their purpose is to bring back shot game to their owner. Fallen game can be difficult to find and collect, and dogs are an essential part of this process. Retrieving instincts are strong in working Labradors because they have been bred for generations for their abilities in the shooting field. They have a gentle mouth, capable of carrying game back to their owner with care, and their urge to pick up and carry things is strong. This is done as quickly as possible over difficult Scottish terrain. They also have the ability to track things by scent alone. There is nothing my dogs love to do more.

Our dogs also compete in working tests, and field trials. Gundog Working Tests are competitions which artificially simulate a shooting day, and seek to assess, without game being shot, the working abilities of the various gundogs. Read more.
Field Trials were developed to test the working ability of Gundogs in competitive conditions. Trials resemble, as closely as possible, a day's shooting in the field and dogs are expected to work with all manner of game. Read more. There are also useful links at the bottom of the page. |
